PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ensene Quientes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ensene Quientes has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ensene Quientes seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ensene Quientes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ned Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quientes shoots in but no luck this time.
Jenkins doesn't manage to clinch there - Quientes circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Quientes is defended easily by Jenkins.
Quientes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jenkins swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ensene Quientes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quientes closes the distance and clinches up with Jenkins, looking for a takedown. Quientes pushes Jenkins against the cage but Jenkins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Quientes moves into the clinch.
Quientes's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jenkins with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Jenkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Quientes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Quientes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jenkins might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Quientes kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Quientes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Quientes tries to get out of the position.
Quientes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jenkins is one step ahead there.
Quientes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Quientes working for a triangle but Jenkins defends it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jenkins shoots in for a double leg but Quientes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Quientes counters with a shoot takedown. Jenkins fights it but they end up in guard.

Jenkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jenkins looks for a takedown but Quientes sprawls well.

and Quientes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Quientes.

Quientes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Quientes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quientes tries to free his leg and advance position but Jenkins is retaining full guard.

Quientes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quientes is staying active underneath Jenkins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Quientes wants to control but Jenkins is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jenkins wants to stand up but Quientes has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Jenkins is breathing heavily.
Jenkins wants to take a breather but Quientes is having none of it.

Quientes has his hands clasped together around Jenkins's back. He's all about the action.
Quientes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Quientes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jenkins is trying to control the action in half guard but Quientes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Horrible takedown by Quientes or perhaps it was just good defense by Jenkins which made him look bad.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ensene Quientes will probably get the nod.

Jenkins tries to land knees in the clinch but Quientes avoids the damage to the body.
Quientes dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Quientes digs a right hand underneath Jenkins's ribcage. Jenkins let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jenkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A frustrated look appears on Jenkins's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jenkins wants to get back to striking at distance but Quientes won't allow it.
Quientes tries to pull guard but Jenkins won't allow it.
Jenkins misses with a knee to the head.
Quientes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jenkins gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Quientes.
Quientes fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Quientes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jenkins is pressed up against the cage. Quientes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jenkins down to the mat. Jenkins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Quientes shoots in but Jenkins avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice takedown defense from Quientes. No joy for Jenkins on that attempt.

and Jenkins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jenkins trying to control but Quientes is working from the bottom.
Quientes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Quientes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jenkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ned Jenkins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Quientes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
