The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios looks to score with a jab to the body but Rage is just out of range.

Tomas Rios seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rage scores with a takedown into Rios's guard.
Rage slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rage seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rios for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rios tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rage paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rios swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rage controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rios wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rage manages to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rage closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rage has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rage's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rage shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rios manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Rage is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
