The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Mcdough.
Adu throws a half hearted mid kick.
Adu fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Mcdough. No joy for Adu on that attempt.
Mcdough fails in his attempt to clinch.
Adu dives in and grabs Mcdough's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcdough pushes down on Adu's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Adu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcdough just misses with a punch to the body.
Mcdough throws a low kick but Adu avoids it.
Adu fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mcdough darts in and clinches Adu up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adu drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mcdough pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mcdough closes the distance and clinches.
Adu goes for a takedown attempt but Mcdough pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A head kick by Adu misses
and Mcdough counters with a head kick. That will keep Adu thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Adu counters by clinching up.

Mcdough breaks from the clinch.
Adu lands with a shot to the body.
Adu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mcdough lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Adu is breathing heavily.
Mcdough tries to clinch there but Adu circles away.
Mcdough throws a body kick that misses.
Mcdough darts in trying to clinch
and Adu counters with a three punch combo that has Mcdough backing up. Mcdough nods at Adu to acknowledge the strikes.
Mcdough tries to close the distance and clinch up but Adu swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Both fighters circling a little - Mcdough finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mcdough.

Mcdough scores with a spinning back kick!
Mcdough shoots for a double leg takedown but Adu sprawls well. He's pushed Mcdough's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mcdough doesn't manage to clinch there - Adu circles away.
Mcdough is looking to clinch.
Adu takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Mcdough scores with a jab to the body.
Mcdough goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Adu takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mcdough connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Adu! He's out on his feet! Mcdough rushes in and drops Adu with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
