Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Newton Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Ericson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Break Stuff. Ericson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. We Fly High remix kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ericson tries to clinch up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carlos is defended easily by Ericson.

Carlos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ericson is trying to defend but Carlos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Carlos is looking for a kimura here.
Carlos lands strikes from half guard.
Ericson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ericson pushes Carlos off looking to stand but Carlos dives back in and keeps control.
Ericson is trying to get back to full guard.

Carlos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ericson is just riding it out for now. Carlos eventually gives up the hold.
Carlos takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Carlos is trying to work for a kimura but Ericson is defending well.
Carlos uses his free foot to push down on Ericson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ericson.

Ericson wants to hold on but Carlos pushes him away.
Ericson is working to get back to half guard.
