Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Ferrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stafford Shire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stafford Shire!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shire throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ferrera misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shire closes the distance and clinches.
Ferrera tries to score a body lock takedown but Shire shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Shire unloads a knee to the mid-section. Ferrera lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Shire just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ferrera's brow.
Ferrera breaks the clinch.
Shire shoots and misses
and Ferrera counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ferrera.
Shire wants to sweep but no luck.
Ferrera trying to control but Shire is working from the bottom.
Ferrera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shire swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shire is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shire wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Shire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shire gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ferrera prevents the takedown attempt.
Ferrera is trying to break the clinch but Shire has him pressed against the cage.
Shire is looking to control Ferrera's arms but Ferrera gets an underhook and turns him. Now Shire has his back to the cage.
Shire has Ferrera pushed against the cage.
Shire tries to circle away but Ferrera has him pinned against the cage.

Ferrera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shire feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ferrera's calf.

The fight stays on the outside here - Shire looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ferrera is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Ferrera shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shire napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Shire looks gassed!
Ferrera is looking to take a break and control but Shire is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Shire really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferrera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ferrera is trying to get an arm triangle but Shire is defending well.

Ferrera cracks Shire with a big elbow.

Shire is looking for a sweep.
Ferrera is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shire has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ferrera passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Shire!
Shire is looking to get to half guard.
Ferrera looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Shire sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Shire has hold of Ferrera's hands but Ferrera slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Still in half guard, Ferrera seems content to control.

Shire moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shire is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Shire wants to sweep here but Ferrera controlling him for the moment.
Shire is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ferrera not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ferrera landing with the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ferrera wants to control from the top but Shire keeps moving.

Shire gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ferrera counters with a straight right hand.
Ferrera fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shire on the side of the head.
Ferrera waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Shire.
Shire tries to clinch up
and Ferrera counters with a nice body shot.
Ferrera scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Shire is rocked!
Ferrera throws a hook but Shire avoids it easily.
Shire is still on wobbly legs! Can Ferrera finish him?
Shire displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ferrera throws out the jab.
Ferrera lands a huge takedown. Shire is out but the ref is slow to react and Ferrera lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Shire lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Ferrera!
