Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paragon Magnus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Magnus has chosen Eluveitie - Thousandfold as his entrance music. Paragon Magnus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magnus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Penn.
Penn could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Magnus misses with a two punch combination.
Magnus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Magnus clinches with his opponent.
Magnus lands a nice elbow.

It looks like Bj Penn has been cut.

Magnus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Magnus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Magnus's waist but Magnus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bj Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Magnus escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Magnus decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Magnus connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penn is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Magnus pulls his head out easily.
Magnus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Penn wants to clinch up but Magnus keeps it at a distance.
Penn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Magnus tries to avoid it but Penn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Magnus to the ground. Magnus escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Magnus gets the takedown into side control.
Penn gets back to half guard.
Magnus tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Penn.
Magnus drops an elbow to the side of Penn's head.
Magnus is trying to control. Penn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Penn has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Magnus. Oh but Penn has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Magnus goes limp - he's gone! Penn jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
