The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pereira is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Horz's half guard.

Horz tries to lock up and control but Pereira gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

and Pereira counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Horz rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Pereira wants to lay and pray for a moment but Horz keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pereira is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Horz is just riding it out for now. Pereira eventually gives up the hold.
Horz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pereira pushes Horz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Horz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Horz stands up and beckons Pereira to his feet.

Horz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Horz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Horz tries to pull guard but Pereira won't allow it.

Horz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pereira clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Pereira turns into Horz and is now in his guard.

Horz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pereira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pereira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pereira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Horz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Horz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pereira decides to stand up, so the ref orders Horz to his feet.
Pereira throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Horz.
The fight stays on the outside here - Horz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
