Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spike Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Promise, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Promise swinging wilding here.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Promise.
Promise throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Smith gets a takedown into half guard.

Smith takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Promise's temple.
Promise has hold of Smith's hands but Smith slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Promise manages to get himself to full guard.

Promise has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Smith is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Promise.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Promise sprawls well. Promise wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Promise's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Promise has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Promise tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Promise to the ground. Promise escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Smith counters with a one-two to the body.
Smith scores with a kick to the midsection.
Smith clobbers Promise with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Promise slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spike Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Promise throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Promise's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Promise is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
