Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, carlos miguel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
miguel tries to clinch up but Diaz circles away and keeps his distance.

Diaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

miguel is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Diaz still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Diaz has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

That's time! miguel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Diaz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but miguel is out of range.

and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in miguel's guard.

miguel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so miguel is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.

and Diaz counters with a nice low kick that buckles miguel's knee momentarily.
miguel closes the distance but Diaz moves to the side

miguel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Diaz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. miguel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Diaz's back instead.

miguel looking to break Diaz's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Diaz remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise miguel will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

miguel has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Diaz has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing miguel to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Diaz is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - miguel pulls down on the head and he's put Diaz to sleep! This one is all over!
