Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tono Gallego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrest Gracie has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tono Gallego!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Forrest Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gallego sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.
Gallego slaps away a takedown attempt from Gracie, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Tono Gallego has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Forrest Gracie.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Gallego.

Gallego forces Gracie back against the cage and clinches.
Gracie is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gallego gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Gallego has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gracie regains guard immediately.
Gallego is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gallego feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Gallego changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gallego has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gallego postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gallego counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gracie won't be happy with that.

Gallego seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gracie for as long as he can get away with.

and Gallego decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gracie's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gallego accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gracie has his foot on Gallego's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gallego works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gallego sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.
Gallego is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gallego trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Gracie shoots and misses

and Gallego counters with a takedown into side control.
Gallego happy to just control the position for now.
Tono Gallego overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gallego's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gallego connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gracie some visible discomfort.
The referee asks Gallego politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gallego prefers to stall for the moment though.

Gallego seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gallego shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gracie's guard.
