The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gailfus shoots in for a double leg but Franklin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A right-left combo lands from Franklin.

Gailfus is rocked!

It looks like Ryan Gailfus has been cut.
Franklin avoids the head kick by Gailfus.
Franklin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gailfus.
Gailfus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Franklin circles away quickly and effectively.

Franklin throws a series of punches but Gailfus avoids them all with ease.

Gailfus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Franklin napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gailfus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Franklin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gailfus has managed to get both his arms back between Franklin's legs - danger averted.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gailfus moves into the clinch.
Gailfus will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Franklin up against the cage.
Franklin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gailfus walks away with a smile on his face. Franklin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gailfus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Franklin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gailfus lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Franklin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gailfus has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gailfus and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
