PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Jane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jane's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Marijuana. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Drake Walker enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Jane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Drake Walker!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker gets the takedown into side control.
Jane is looking to regain half guard here but Walker keeps moving and retains side control.
Jane being controlled for a moment.
Jane is pushing Walker's head away, looking to escape. Walker manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jane is looking for a sweep.
Jane is not content to let Walker control the position.
Jane tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Walker avoids the attempt from Jane to control.

Walker is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Jane lands with a hook. Walker tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Walker is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jane.
Walker looks for a takedown but Jane sprawls well.
Jane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mario Jane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jane shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Walker counters with a shoot takedown. Jane fights it but they end up in guard.
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Jane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Walker's guard.
Jane throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Walker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jane lands a couple of elbows.
Jane trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.

Jane stands up and waves to Walker to follow him.

Jane moves into range and clinches up with Walker.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walker prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jane is breathing heavily.
Jane wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Walker has him pressed against the cage.
Jane throws a knee to the head but misses.
Walker is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jane gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Walker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jane avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mario Jane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drake Walker.
Jane swings wildly with an uppercut but Walker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Walker jumps guard but Jane stands there with Walker around his waist. Walker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jane lands an elbow inside that Walker shrugs off.
Walker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The is referee keeping an eye on Jane - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Walker wants a takedown but no success here.
A frustrated look appears on Walker's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jane crunches a lovely knee into Walker's ribcage.

Jane throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Walker blocks it with crossed arms.
Jane wants a takedown but no success here.

Walker jumps guard.
Jane slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jane has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jane wants to get up but he can't break Walker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker wants to sweep here but Jane controlling him for the moment.
Jane tries to stand but Walker is controlling from the bottom.
Walker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Drake Walker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Walker has closed the distance and engaged Jane in a clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Jane throws an elbow but it misses.
Walker drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jane pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jane clinches up against the cage.
Walker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jane has him pressed against the cage.
Jane lands with a left to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker prevents Jane from breaking the clinch.
Walker is breathing heavily.

Jane jumps into guard, dragging Walker to the mat.
Jane trying to keep a closed guard but Walker is proving a slippery customer.
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Jane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Walker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jane is controlling Walker's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Jane wants to control the action here but instead Walker manages to pass to full mount!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Walker lands a heavy elbow.

Walker swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jane is now in Walker's guard. A big mistake from Walker there, giving up the dominant position!

Jane is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Walker wants to control the position but Jane says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Jane decides to stand up.
Mario Jane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Walker tries to clinch but Jane moves away

and Jane counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Jane postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Walker to stand up.
Jane pushes Walker away with a front kick.
Walker tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jane counters with a thumping low kick.

and Jane counters with a series of strikes. Walker will be more careful next time no doubt.
Walker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jane counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Mario Jane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drake Walker.

Jane takes the fight into the clinch.
Walker jumps guard but Jane stands there with Walker around his waist. Walker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jane closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Walker to the mat! Walker manages to get full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walker is trying to keep Jane in close.

Jane is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walker has escaped and now he's on top!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jane is adopting a defensive guard.
Walker works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Walker works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Jane dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Jane tries to clinch up but Walker circles away and keeps his distance.

Walker wants to break free but Jane has control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jane looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jane looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jane!

Jane has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Walker fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jane scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jane doesn't manage to clinch there - Walker circles away.
A head kick misses from Walker.
Jane wants to clinch up but Walker keeps it at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jane lands with a kick to the temple. Walker shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Jane throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Jane gets a clinch.

Jane breaks from the clinch.
Walker slips a jab and a cross from Jane.
Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jane tries to clinch but Walker moves away

and Walker holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Jane breaks the clinch.

Jane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jane is looking to take a break and control but Walker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Walker tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Jane easily slips into full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker holds on for dear life, controlling Jane's posture momentarily.
Walker is working to get back to half guard.
Jane tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
A nice elbow there by Jane.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jane looking to control but Walker is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jane wants to control the pace but Walker is squirming around nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walker flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mario Jane showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
