Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Sobchak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uolevi Kaipainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kaipainen's choice of entrance music: Fredi - Puhu hiljaa rakkaudesta. Uolevi Kaipainen will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Uolevi Kaipainen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobchak closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sobchak stops a takedown attempt from Kaipainen.

Kaipainen is trying to trip Sobchak . He has hold of a leg but Sobchak is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kaipainen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Kaipainen trying to control but Sobchak is working from the bottom.

Kaipainen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sobchak works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kaipainen lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Sobchak is looking to clinch but Kaipainen is avoiding it.
Sobchak swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Sobchak tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sobchak is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kaipainen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sobchak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Sobchak drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kaipainen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kaipainen has picked Sobchak up - he's going for a ride! Kaipainen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kaipainen lands a nice short elbow.

Kaipainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kaipainen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sobchak 's head.
Kaipainen is in close to Sobchak 's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Sobchak wants to stand but Kaipainen is controlling the position.
Sobchak on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sobchak tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kaipainen is looking to take a break and control but Sobchak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kaipainen tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sobchak is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kaipainen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Sobchak might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kaipainen stalling away here and it's allowed Sobchak to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Kaipainen wants to control from the top but Sobchak keeps moving.
Sobchak pulls Kaipainen in close to his closed guard and prevents Kaipainen from doing any damage or advancing position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kaipainen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sobchak throws a right and a left that Kaipainen avoids nicely.
Kaipainen closes the distance but Sobchak moves to the side

and Sobchak moves into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Kaipainen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sobchak gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jeff Sobchak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uolevi Kaipainen.
Kaipainen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sobchak fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kaipainen shoots for a double leg takedown but Sobchak sprawls well. He's pushed Kaipainen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Sobchak counters by moving into the clinch.
Kaipainen has Sobchak pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sobchak manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kaipainen has hold of one of Sobchak 's legs. Sobchak is fighting the takedown attempt but Kaipainen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uolevi Kaipainen dominated that round.

Sobchak darts in trying to clinch
and Kaipainen counters with a nice uppercut.
Kaipainen looks to score with a jab to the body but Sobchak is just out of range.

Sobchak lands on the inside with an uppercut.


It looks like Uolevi Kaipainen has been cut.
Sobchak lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Sobchak presses Kaipainen against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kaipainen is trying to drag Sobchak to the mat but Sobchak just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sobchak lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Kaipainen goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. Sobchak in side control.


Kaipainen is rocked!
Sobchak cracks Kaipainen with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Sobchak immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Kaipainen is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Sobchak !

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeff Sobchak !
