PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Lance Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desmond Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rock comes to the ring accompanied by Yo Gabba Gabba Theme Song. Fox has chosen Hardrock Hallelujah {Lordi} as his entrance music. Desmond Fox is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, DJ Lance Rock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Desmond Fox!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox leaves Rock with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fox avoids a kick to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rock.
Rock wants to control for a moment but Fox uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Fox wants to stand up but Rock has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Rock is looking for a sweep. Fox is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rock is trying to control but can't.
Fox throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rock wants to control the action here but instead Fox manages to pass to full mount!

Rock is desperately trying to improve his position but Fox has a good base and remains in mount.
Rock wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Fox has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rock has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Fox is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rock has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Fox keeps control of the position as Rock tries to break free.
Rock breaks Fox's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Rock trying to control the position from guard on top but Fox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rock looking to pass the guard.
Rock is working Fox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rock tries to free his leg and advance position but Fox is retaining full guard.

Fox is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rock is aware though and is defending well.

Rock is breathing heavily.

Rock postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fox is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rock, into his guard.

Rock trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Rock had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Fox is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rock Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Fox's back instead.

Rock working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rock throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Fox tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Rock prevents Fox from getting the reversal.
Fox avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rock.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fox tries to hold on but Rock pushes him away.
Poor strikes thrown by Rock there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Rock is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fox has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fox!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desmond Fox dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fox blocks a head kick by Rock.
Rock shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fox but Fox pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fox avoids a punch combination nicely.

Fox gets a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rock wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fox throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fox stands up out of the half guard.
Rock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Rock feints and as Fox raises his hands in defense, Rock changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fox bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rock's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rock has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fox avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fox with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Fox drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rock manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fox has Rock in his guard.

Rock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Rock throws a big right hand that misses.
Fox wants to get back to his feet but Rock passes into half guard.
Rock not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Rock trying to pass the guard but Fox defending well.
Fox is trying to stand.
Rock passes to full mount!
Rock trying to control but Fox is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rock takes Fox's back.

Fox defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Rock's arms.

Rock is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Fox has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Rock looking for the choke but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Lance Rock dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Fox gets a clinch.
Rock tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fox just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Rock prevents the takedown attempt.
Fox unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Fox tries to land knees in the clinch but Rock avoids the damage to the body.
Fox lands a knee to the body.
Fox is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rock pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Fox tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Rock wants to break free but Fox has control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rock breaks from the clinch.
No luck for Fox with that takedown attempt.
DJ Lance Rock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Desmond Fox.

Rock scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Fox is not content to let Rock control the position.
Rock wants to pass to mount but Fox is defending the position.
Rock works his way into full mount!
Fox is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rock stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Rock throws a right and a left that Fox avoids nicely.
DJ Lance Rock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rock misses with a takedown attempt

and Fox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rock is on top in guard.
Fox keeping full guard, as Rock tries to pass.
Rock pushes down on Fox's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Fox is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox is not content to let Rock control the position.

Rock is trying to work for a kimura but Fox is defending well.

Rock wants to work for an arm triangle but Fox is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rock looking for a submission but Fox manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rock trying to control but Fox is working from the bottom.
Rock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to DJ Lance Rock.
I think Rock has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
