The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoshi misses with a looping left.
Hoshi misses with a looping right.
Hoshi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts del Sexay as he jumps to the side.
An inside leg kick from Hoshi misses.
Hoshi moves out of range as del Sexay strikes.
del Sexay lands a two punch combo.
del Sexay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoshi circles away quickly and effectively.

Hoshi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. del Sexay manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hoshi got a little sloppy there for a moment and del Sexay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hoshi has managed to get both his arms back between del Sexay's legs - danger averted.

Hoshi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! del Sexay is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! del Sexay has escaped and now he's on top!

Hoshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hoshi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! del Sexay escapes and throws Hoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hoshi is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Armando del Sexay will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ichirai Hoshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoshi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. del Sexay tries to avoid it but Hoshi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag del Sexay to the ground. del Sexay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Armando del Sexay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichirai Hoshi.
Hoshi is breathing heavily.

Hoshi shoots in looking for a takedown. del Sexay tries to sprawl out of it but Hoshi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. del Sexay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hoshi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hoshi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
del Sexay scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hoshi doesn't seem bothered though.

Hoshi has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed del Sexay clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

del Sexay wants to control but Hoshi is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hoshi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

del Sexay is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hoshi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hoshi's back!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hoshi is pushing down on del Sexay's leg trying to pass to half guard. del Sexay is fighting to maintain full guard but Hoshi has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hoshi is working for a submission of some sort.
