Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benito Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Verde comes to the cage accompanied by The Way I Feel. Richards has chosen Cry me a river - Michael buble as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shane Richards was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benito Verde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Richards!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verde takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Richards looks to throw the jab but Verde is out of range.
Verde misses with a takedown attempt - Richards sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Richards misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Verde slips a jab and a cross from Richards.
Verde will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Verde thuds a left hand into Richards's body.
Verde tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Richards swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benito Verde. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Verde, as that shot connected.
Richards knocks Verde to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Verde struggling a bit here.
Verde is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Verde is trying to control Richards's posture but Richards avoids it.
Verde is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Richards tries to stand but Verde is controlling his head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Richards thuds his shin into the meat of Verde's side.
Verde slips a jab and a cross from Richards.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Verde.
Verde misses with a takedown attempt - Richards sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Verde throws a series of punches but Richards moves out of range.
Richards keeps Verde at a distance using the push kick.
Verde is breathing heavily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Richards. Verde shrugs it off though.
Verde takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Richards throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Verde stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Richards follows into mount!
Richards content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Richards gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Whack! Richards lands a heavy head kick that drops Verde. The ref tackles Richards to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Verde was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Shane Richards!
