Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Hunter has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Xavier Payne's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavier Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter drops Payne with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Payne looks back up at him and smiles so Hunter waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Payne is rocked!


It looks like Xavier Payne has been cut.
Hunter throws a hook but Payne avoids it easily.
Oh Payne is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hunter tries a head kick but it misses.
Hunter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Payne.
Nice defenses there by Payne.
Payne uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hunter.
Payne seems to have got his legs back now.
Nice body punch from Hunter.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunter wants to clinch.
A swing and a miss from Hunter.
Hunter misses with a straight right.
Hunter shoots in looking for a takedown. Payne tries to sprawl out of it but Hunter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Payne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hunter throws a looping overhand right but Payne ducks down to avoid it.
Hunter wants to clinch up but Payne keeps it at a distance.

Payne shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Payne trying to mount his opponent but Hunter defends it.
Hunter gets back to full guard.
Payne sitting in guard here, content to control.
Hunter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Payne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Payne in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Payne avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Payne missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Payne is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Payne slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Payne wants to control but Hunter is keeping him busy.

Hunter prevents Payne from moving into mount.

Payne working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Payne is staying tight to Hunter's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Hunter is not content to let Payne control the position.
Hunter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Payne wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Hunter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Payne wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Hunter is trying to control Payne's posture but Payne avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hunter lands a really nice looking cross but Payne seems unphased.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Payne uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hunter.
Hunter thows a body shot but no joy.
Hunter doesn't manage to clinch there - Payne circles away.
Hunter connects with a nice looking jab.
Payne looks up at the clock. Bad move! Hunter lands a right hand from hell, dropping Payne. Hunter pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Hunter!
