The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katama looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Katama pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Katama throws a leg kick but Simmons checks it.
No joy there for Simmons, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Katama throws a right and a left that Simmons avoids nicely.
Simmons loads up on a big right hand but Katama slips the punch.
Katama tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simmons paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jab, jab by Katama - just one landing.
Katama throws a combination that misses
and Simmons counters with a straight right hand.
A punch combination from Simmons misses.
Simmons throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Katama looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
A jab-cross combination lands for Simmons and sends Katama crashing to the mat! Simmons follows him down to the mat - Katama regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
It looks like Simo Katama has been cut.
Katama is in trouble now - Simmons has advanced to mount!
