PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bravo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to timbuktu. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randall Vaughan!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughan lands with a nice body kick.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Bravo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bravo lands in his opponent's guard.

Vaughan has his foot on Bravo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bravo works his way back into a safe position though.

Vaughan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bravo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vaughan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bravo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bravo is trying to control the action in half guard but Vaughan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bravo wants to pass to mount but Vaughan is defending the position.
Vaughan is trying to stand up here but Bravo is controlling him well.
Vaughan trying to control but Bravo postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bravo gets the takedown into side control.
Bravo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Vaughan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Bravo wants to control but Vaughan is keeping him busy.

Bravo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bravo trying to control the action but Vaughan is working from the bottom.
Vaughan wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Bravo wants to control but Vaughan is keeping him busy.
Vaughan is looking to regain half guard here but Bravo keeps moving and retains side control.
Bravo trying to control the position but Vaughan is working away.

Bravo tries for a kimura but Vaughan is defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bravo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bravo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bravo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vaughan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bravo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vaughan has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Bravo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Vaughan scores with a leg kick.
Bravo moves out of range of the body kick from Vaughan.
Vaughan throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bravo doesn't manage to clinch there - Vaughan circles away.

Bravo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bravo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vaughan sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bravo wants to pass the guard but Vaughan is defending well.
Bravo is looking to take a break and control but Vaughan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vaughan wants to get back to his feet.
Bravo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vaughan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Vaughan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bravo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vaughan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bravo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bravo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Bravo trying to control but Vaughan is having none of it.
Bravo fails to take his opponent's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vaughan is squirming around, avoiding Bravo's attempts to control the action.
Bravo takes Vaughan's back.
Vaughan rolls, trying to escape but Bravo keeps control of the position.
Vaughan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bravo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vaughan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bravo is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Vaughan won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Bravo off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tony Bravo!
