Phoenix cracks Bates with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Phoenix lands with a hook. Bates tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Nice combo by Phoenix! Oh, that's hurt him - Bates falls to the canvas and Phoenix follows him into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bates can't do much from the bottom here.
Phoenix lands a strong strike to the head of Bates. That's dazed him! Phoenix looking to finish here. Bates is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Phoenix lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
