Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dzhabrail Kuriev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clive Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dzhabrail Kuriev is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dzhabrail Kuriev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clive Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kuriev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kuriev prevents Johnson from improving his position.
Johnson is trying to stand.
Kuriev is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kuriev is keen to just control but Johnson is a slippery customer.
Johnson is looking to improve his position.
Johnson wants to control but Kuriev is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kuriev is looking for submissions but instead, Johnson has regained full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kuriev counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard.

Kuriev tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.
Johnson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Kuriev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kuriev is breathing heavily.

Kuriev gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kuriev circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kuriev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kuriev is controlling him.

Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Kuriev circles away easily

and Kuriev holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kuriev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Kuriev's legs - danger averted.

Johnson stands and steps away. Kuriev gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kuriev tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kuriev is keen to just control but Johnson is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kuriev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

and Kuriev counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kuriev.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kuriev shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kuriev was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kuriev can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.
Johnson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kuriev looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kuriev has control of Johnson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Johnson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, if Kuriev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Johnson moves into full guard.
Kuriev throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kuriev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kuriev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Johnson's guard.
Johnson wants to improve his position but Kuriev is controlling well.

Kuriev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kuriev passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kuriev tries to control but Johnson wriggling away.
Johnson is trying to escape the mount.
Johnson wants to control but Kuriev is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kuriev wants to take his opponent's back but Johnson doesn't allow it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Clive Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dzhabrail Kuriev is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kuriev stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Dzhabrail Kuriev showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kuriev has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
