Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hode comes to the ring accompanied by Arkansas Razorback Fight Song. Gomi has chosen Slaap lekker! as his entrance music. Scott Hode could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kenny Gomi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Scott Hode!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kenny Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Hode misses the target.
Gomi ducks under a wild hook from Hode.
Gomi ducks straight into an uppercut from Hode and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Gomi maanges to regain guard straight away.


Gomi is rocked!
Gomi keeping full guard, as Hode tries to pass.
Hode postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gomi controls Hode momentarily but Hode frees himself.
Hode slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gomi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hode trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.
Hode looking to sit in guard and control but Gomi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hode pulls Gomi in close to prevent any damage.
Hode wants to sweep here but Gomi controlling him for the moment.
Gomi postures up and lands a big shot to Hode's brow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hode counters with a shoot takedown. Gomi fights it but they end up in guard.

Hode tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomi is retaining full guard.
Hode wants to control from the top but Gomi keeps moving.
Hode looking to sit in guard and control but Gomi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gomi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hode dives on top into guard.

Gomi is looking to control Hode's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gomi avoid being mounted?
Hode frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hode wants to control the pace but Gomi is squirming around nicely.

Gomi is trying desperately to improve position.
Gomi is bucking up trying to escape but Hode cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

and Gomi counters with a right hand to the body.
Gomi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Hode has a takedown stuffed.

Gomi throws a head kick that misses.
Gomi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hode.
Hode misses with a looping left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hode throws the left hand but Gomi avoids the punch easily.

and Hode counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gomi is trying to control but can't.

Hode is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hode connects with a nice short shot to Gomi's temple.
Gomi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hode wants to free his trapped foot but Gomi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hode is looking to take a break and control but Gomi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hode closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gomi did well to prevent Hode getting side control.
Gomi wants to control but Hode is keeping busy.
Hode moves nicely into side control.
Gomi dodges the ground and pound from Hode.

Hode wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gomi keeps working.
Gomi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Hode seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hode is keen to just control but Gomi is a slippery customer.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hode lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hode shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomi's guard.

Gomi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hode gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Gomi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gomi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hode lunges at Gomi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gomi's hand.
Hode is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Hode misses with a hook. Gomi ducked under it nicely.
Hode throws a lazy right hand but Gomi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hode misses with an uppercut. Gomi saw that one coming.
Hode steps into range and cracks Gomi with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Gomi flops backwards and Hode dives into his guard looking to finish!
Gomi is still in real trouble! Can Hode finish him?
Gomi controls Hode momentarily but Hode frees himself.
Hode stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gomi seems to have recovered his senses.
Hode trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hode is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gomi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hode can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gomi looks up at the clock. Bad move! Hode lands a right hand from hell, dropping Gomi. Hode pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Hode!
