The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pena throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pena misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pena fails to land with a series of punches.
Pentti Pena seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bryne showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pena.
Bryne throws a head kick but Pena moves out of range.
Pena paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A telegraphed right hand from Pena misses the target.
Bryne gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bryne leaves Pena with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pena rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bryne moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fighters circle momentarily. Pena darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Pena might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Pena shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bryne manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bryne tries to close the distance and clinch but Pena swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pena looks to land a combination. Bryne sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Pena throws a lazy right hand but Bryne sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Pena is going olschool here, as he tries to force Bryne to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bryne shrugs it off.

Bryne prevents any damage by holding on tight.

Bryne tries to lock up and control but Pena gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Pena unloads with some shots from mount but Bryne bucks and avoids them well.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Trond Carlos Bryne just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
