PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Palaver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvagh Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Palaver might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Coolio - Gangsta´s Paradise. Calvagh Reed acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Palaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Calvagh Reed!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed scores with a crisp jab that stopped Palaver in his tracks.


It looks like Junior Palaver has been cut.

Reed throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Palaver was covering up waiting for the punch and Reed finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Reed stands and steps away. Palaver gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Palaver wants to stand up but Reed is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A decent looking cross lands there for Reed.

Reed drives through and clinches with Palaver against the cage.

Reed drops down looking for an ankle pick but Palaver pulls his leg out and moves away.

Reed has managed to clinch.
Reed is pressed up against the cage. Palaver has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reed down to the mat. Reed avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Reed looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Reed slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

You can see the frustration on Palaver's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Reed controlling the position well here. Palaver rolled but Reed kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
I looks like Reed might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Palaver has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Reed lands punches and elbows.

Palaver manages to reverse the position and now he's in Reed's guard. Nice work there by Palaver.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Reed is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Palaver can't fight it off and eventually Reed manages to take the fight to the floor. Palaver looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Reed fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Palaver sprawls well initially but Reed persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Palaver might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Reed throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Palaver's waist but Palaver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reed off to one side.

Calvagh Reed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Reed feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

I would just about give that final round to Calvagh Reed.
I've got Reed winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
