PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MAX CONDOR (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dubois might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Attitude from Sepultura. MAX CONDOR has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Dubois!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, MAX CONDOR!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dubois throws an overhand right that lands on CONDOR's shoulder, as CONDOR tries to avoid the shot.

CONDOR instigates a clinch.
Dubois tries to pull guard but CONDOR won't allow it.
Dubois keeps the fight in the clinch, despite CONDOR's efforts to push away.

CONDOR gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

CONDOR stands up and beckons Dubois to join him on the feet.
Dubois shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as CONDOR sprawls well. CONDOR wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dubois gets slowly back to his feet.
Dubois shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christopher Dubois. That's going to take a lot out of him.
CONDOR sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Dubois shoots in for a takedown but CONDOR shows good takedown defense.

CONDOR closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dubois to the mat! Dubois manages to get full guard.
CONDOR stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dubois swivels though and keeps the full guard.
CONDOR slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

CONDOR drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and CONDOR jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

CONDOR trying to control the position from guard on top but Dubois is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

CONDOR drops back looking for a leg! Dubois is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dubois manages to kick CONDOR off! CONDOR jumps back into Dubois's guard.
CONDOR looks gassed!

Dubois throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Dubois lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for CONDOR!

Dubois with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dubois trying to control but he's not successful this time.
CONDOR wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dubois.
Dubois wants to control the pace but CONDOR is squirming around nicely.

Dubois has hold of CONDOR's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and CONDOR manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Dubois is trying to control here but CONDOR has managed to regain half guard.

Dubois is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

CONDOR is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Dubois pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
CONDOR is refusing to be controlled, as Dubois sits in half guard.

Dubois is working for a submission of some sort.
CONDOR is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
CONDOR works his way to full guard. Good work.

CONDOR has an active guard here but Dubois has managed to pass into half guard.
Dubois is pressing down on CONDOR's thigh, looking to free his foot. CONDOR is holding on for now.
CONDOR tries to get to full guard but Dubois has control of the leg.

Dubois is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. CONDOR doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dubois.
CONDOR is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dubois's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dubois's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but MAX CONDOR will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dubois doesn't succeed with the takedown

and CONDOR counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
CONDOR wants to control but Dubois is keeping him busy.
CONDOR prevents Dubois from improving his position.

CONDOR is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dubois defends it well.
Ground and pound from CONDOR.
CONDOR wants to stand but Dubois has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Dubois tries to get to full guard but CONDOR has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

CONDOR is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Dubois still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Dubois has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Dubois is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but CONDOR is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
CONDOR is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Dubois wants to lay and pray for a moment but CONDOR keeps working.
CONDOR manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Dubois seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but CONDOR does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dubois is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dubois prevents CONDOR from improving his position.
CONDOR is controlling Dubois's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Still in half guard, Dubois seems content to control.

Dubois is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. CONDOR doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dubois.
CONDOR moves into full guard.

CONDOR escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dubois gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
CONDOR not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dubois pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. CONDOR is keeping the position for now.
Dubois throws a big right hand that misses.
Dubois with a flurry of punches that miss.
CONDOR wants to control the position but Dubois says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Dubois is looking to take a break and control but CONDOR is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
CONDOR blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dubois.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dubois clinches but CONDOR breaks the clinch

and CONDOR counters with a single leg into guard. Dubois didn't expect that.
Dubois controls CONDOR momentarily but CONDOR frees himself.
CONDOR wants to control from the top but Dubois keeps moving.
Dubois keeping full guard, as CONDOR tries to pass.

CONDOR looking to sit in guard and control but Dubois gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

MAX CONDOR showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
CONDOR postures up.
CONDOR tries to free his leg and advance position but Dubois is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
CONDOR takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Dubois wants to clinch.

so CONDOR counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dubois looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dubois keeping moving, preventing CONDOR from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as CONDOR accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dubois throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

CONDOR has gone for a leg lock! Dubois slips out almost immediately though and dives into CONDOR's guard.

Christopher Dubois has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
CONDOR wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Dubois manages to pass to side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dubois seems to be looking for submissions.

CONDOR actively working from the bottom here.
CONDOR is trying to control but can't.
Dubois is trying to control the action in half guard but CONDOR is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
CONDOR is looking for a sweep. Dubois is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
CONDOR regains full guard. Nicely done.

CONDOR is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dubois defends well.
MAX CONDOR is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dubois got a little sloppy there for a moment and CONDOR has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dubois has managed to get both his arms back between CONDOR's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
MAX CONDOR comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got CONDOR winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
