Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Raboatta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Remi Nilsen!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nilsen moves into the clinch successfully.
Nilsen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Raboatta lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Still in the clinch, Nilsen scores with a nice short uppercut.

Raboatta swings wildly with an uppercut but Nilsen uses good head movement to avoid it.

Nilsen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Raboatta throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Raboatta tries to bum rush Nilsen with a series of wild strikes but Nilsen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nilsen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Raboatta napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raboatta is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Nilsen is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nilsen stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Raboatta drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Raboatta swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Nilsen has closed the distance and engaged Raboatta in a clinch.

Raboatta tries to stand but Nilsen is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Nilsen instigates a clinch.
Raboatta is looking to break free of the clinch but Nilsen has double underhooks.

With the fighters up against the cage, Raboatta throws an elbow but misses.
Nilsen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Raboatta.
Nilsen lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Nilsen digs a right hand into Raboatta's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Raboatta's gas tank.

Nilsen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nilsen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Nilsen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Raboatta's efforts to push away.
Nilsen scores with a nice hook to the head.
Nilsen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Raboatta.

Nilsen pulls guard.
Raboatta trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nilsen's guard.
Nilsen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Raboatta has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nilsen is proving hard to escape from.

Nilsen uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Nilsen closes the distance and clinches.

Nilsen lands a damaging elbow.
Raboatta is trying to break free.
Raboatta looking to throw knees to the head but Nilsen is blocking nicely.
Nilsen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Nilsen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nilsen moves into the clinch.
Nilsen lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Raboatta is looking to break free of the clinch but Nilsen has double underhooks.

Nilsen breaks from the clinch.

Nilsen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Raboatta is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nilsen stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Remi Nilsen dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nilsen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Nilsen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nilsen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Raboatta is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Raboatta trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Nilsen working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Raboatta is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Nilsen has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Raboatta taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Remi Nilsen!
