PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danie Fairhoof (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danie Fairhoof!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ricardo Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fairhoof tries to keep at a distance but Kelly has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kelly tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fairhoof smiles and moves away.
Fairhoof closes the distance but Kelly moves to the side

and Kelly counters with a shoot takedown. Fairhoof fights it but they end up in guard.
Kelly postures up.
Fairhoof has Kelly pulled in close to control his posture.

Fairhoof escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kelly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kelly passes Fairhoof's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kelly in particular looking to stall.
Fairhoof tries to roll over but Kelly keeps him under control.
Fairhoof trying to control from the bottom.
Fairhoof is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kelly is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kelly perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kelly wants to stand but Fairhoof has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kelly is keen to just control but Fairhoof is a slippery customer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelly prevents Fairhoof from improving his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fairhoof lands a nice shot to the body.
Kelly defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fairhoof.

Fairhoof's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Kelly has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Fairhoof clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Fairhoof looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Kelly is riding his opponent, not letting Fairhoof buck him off.
Let's hope that Kelly has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Fairhoof breaks Kelly's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Kelly is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kelly is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Fairhoof gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kelly gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fairhoof regains guard.
Kelly looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fairhoof looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kelly is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Kelly decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Fairhoof stuffs the takedown attempt from Kelly. Kelly gets slowly back to his feet.
Ricardo Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fairhoof tries to clinch but Kelly is having none of it.

Kelly avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fairhoof throws a wild body kick that Kelly sees coming a mile off.
Fairhoof takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Kelly closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kelly lands in his opponent's guard.

Ricardo Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kelly throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kelly displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fairhoof.

Kelly has managed to clinch.

Fairhoof has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kelly regains guard immediately.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kelly holds on and takes a little breather.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kelly controls Fairhoof momentarily but Fairhoof frees himself.
Fairhoof throws a big right hand that misses.

Kelly pulls Fairhoof in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kelly wants to stand but Fairhoof is controlling the position.
Kelly pulls Fairhoof in close to prevent any damage.
Fairhoof pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kelly is keeping the position for now.

Fairhoof is working hard here to advance position.

Fairhoof drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kelly manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fairhoof has Kelly in his guard.

Kelly stands up from Fairhoof's guard - Kelly perhaps looking for a knockout.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kelly scores with a takedown into Fairhoof's guard.
Fairhoof is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Danie Fairhoof has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ricardo Kelly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ricardo Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kelly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
