Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Guerra!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall.
Silva is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round but I would say that Rodrigo Silva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Guerra lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Guerra missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Guerra is looking to stand up but Silva won't let him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Guerra has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.
Silva can't get the takedown.
Silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Guerra just stands there and leans against the cage.

Guerra's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Guerra's guard.
Guerra is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.
Guerra can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Guerra sees it coming and defends easily.
Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Guerra is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Silva is working for a kimura but Guerra is defending it quite comfortably.

Guerra has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Guerra scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva wants to hold on but Guerra pushes him away.
Guerra can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Guerra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Silva sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Silva is trying to maintain the position but Guerra is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva moves into full guard.

Guerra gets to his feet - Silva follows without any prompting.

Guerra misses with a takedown attempt

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Silva slips nicely into half guard.

Guerra is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
Guerra is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Guerra defends it well.

Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Silva drops back looking for a leg! Guerra is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Guerra manages to kick Silva off! Silva jumps back into Guerra's guard.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Guerra is retaining full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rodrigo Silva.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
