PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CAIN VELASQUEZ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bell comes to the cage accompanied by I Wanna Rock. On his way into the cage it seems that Ken Bell has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ken Bell seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CAIN VELASQUEZ!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
VELASQUEZ wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Good body shot from Bell.

Bell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bell misses with the combination.
VELASQUEZ darts in trying to clinch

and Bell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bell.
VELASQUEZ misses with some punches.
VELASQUEZ is trying to break the clinch but Bell has him pressed against the cage.
VELASQUEZ gets underhooks to prevent Bell's takedown attempt.
Bell tries to pull guard but VELASQUEZ won't allow it.

Bell gets control of VELASQUEZ's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
VELASQUEZ throws and elbow that misses. Bell uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in VELASQUEZ's guard. Nice move by Bell!
Bell is in close to VELASQUEZ's body, working some short punches and elbows.
VELASQUEZ is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
VELASQUEZ trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
VELASQUEZ will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
VELASQUEZ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of VELASQUEZ's head.

Bell wants to control from the top but VELASQUEZ keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
VELASQUEZ throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

VELASQUEZ had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. VELASQUEZ Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bell's back instead.

VELASQUEZ lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Bell controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Bell tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
VELASQUEZ looking to control but Bell is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Bell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

VELASQUEZ escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bell throws a big right hand that misses.
VELASQUEZ thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. VELASQUEZ defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Bell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
VELASQUEZ closes the distance but Bell moves to the side

and Bell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
VELASQUEZ has a couple of punches blocked by Bell.
VELASQUEZ is looking to break free of the clinch but Bell has double underhooks.

VELASQUEZ is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
VELASQUEZ prevents a takedown attempt there.
VELASQUEZ wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bell has him pressed against the cage.
Bell changes levels and goes for a takedown here. VELASQUEZ fights it off and pushes away nicely.
VELASQUEZ lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Bell dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bell clinches up with VELASQUEZ and pushes him back against the cage.
VELASQUEZ misses with the head strike.
VELASQUEZ swings away with an uppercut that misses.
VELASQUEZ is trying to break free.
VELASQUEZ doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, VELASQUEZ just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bell's brow.
Bell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. VELASQUEZ smiles and moves away.
VELASQUEZ rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
VELASQUEZ avoids the body shot from Bell.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
VELASQUEZ lands with a right hand.
VELASQUEZ tries to clinch but Bell moves out of range.
VELASQUEZ throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Bell stumbling backwards into the cage! Bell bounces back off the cage towards VELASQUEZ, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! VELASQUEZ lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! VELASQUEZ celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). CAIN VELASQUEZ!
