PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hollis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hollis comes into the arena with UGK - Pocket Full of Stones blaring out of the sound system. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hollis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Lee!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hollis tries to avoid it but Lee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hollis to the ground. Hollis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee shoots in for a double leg but Hollis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hollis pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hollis.
Hollis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hollis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lee is looking to advance position but Hollis has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Hollis scoring with strikes but Lee is staying in there.
Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lee is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lee is squirming around, avoiding Hollis's attempts to control the action.
Lee sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The fighters are battling for position here. Lee manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hollis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lee's head.
Hollis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lee throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hollis escapes and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Lee is looking to reverse the position.
Hollis cracks Lee with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hollis is chipping away with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee is looking to reverse the position.
Hollis scores with punches from side control.

Hollis decides to stand back up.
Hollis throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lee on the side of the head.
Lee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hollis throws a lazy right hand but Lee sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hollis tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance.
Hollis waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Lee.
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Jordan Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee misses with a wild body shot.
Hollis tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hollis pinned against the cage. Hollis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Joe Hollis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Lee.

Hollis is looking to chop away at Lee's legs.
Hollis slips under a jab from Lee.
Hollis misses with a looping left.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Lee throws a looping overhand right but Hollis ducks down to avoid it.
Lee throws a hook but Hollis blocks it.

Joe Hollis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hollis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lee's hands.
Lee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hollis circles away.
Lee avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Hollis which made him look bad.
Hollis throws a leg kick but Lee sees it coming and moves out of range.

and Hollis counters by moving into the clinch.

That's time! Hollis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hollis moves away.

Lee closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Lee are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Lee looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hollis is looking to regain half guard here but Lee keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ground and pound from Lee seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Lee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hollis lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Hollis sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hollis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Hollis lands a couple of digs.
Lee wants to sweep here but Hollis controlling him for the moment.

Lee isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hollis stacks Lee on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hollis!

Hollis is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee is trying to improve his position.
Hollis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lee down.
Lee manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hollis's best efforts.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hollis connects with a nice short shot to Lee's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Hollis motions for Lee to come forward. Hollis throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lee shoots and misses
and Hollis counters with a nice uppercut.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hollis darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Lee gets the takedown into side control.
Hollis regains half guard, as Lee was trying to land strikes.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hollis tries to kick Lee off but Lee keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Lee thows a huge punch but Hollis dodges it nicely.

Lee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hollis is pressing down on Lee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hollis cracks Lee with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Joe Hollis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lee is in a horrible position here. Hollis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Hollis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lee is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hollis pulls his head out easily.

Lee has his foot on Hollis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hollis works his way back into a safe position though.
