Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pete Higgedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuno Mashinata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Higgedy comes to the cage accompanied by Fort Minor - In Stereo. Stuno Mashinata will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pete Higgedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stuno Mashinata!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgedy takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Higgedy rushes Mashinata and presses him up against the cage.
Mashinata is trying to drag Higgedy to the mat but Higgedy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Higgedy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mashinata scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mashinata working away.
Higgedy tries to escape but Mashinata is in control.
Mashinata wants to lay and pray for a moment but Higgedy keeps working.
Mashinata is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Mashinata is trying to get an arm triangle but Higgedy is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mashinata is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Higgedy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Higgedy throws a few strikes from the bottom but Mashinata takes advantage and mounts!

Higgedy is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mashinata working for a submission but Higgedy is keeping him at bay.
Higgedy tries to hold on but Mashinata pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Higgedy throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Mashinata is trying to control here but Higgedy has managed to regain half guard.
Mashinata wants to pass the guard but Higgedy is defending well.
Higgedy is trying is best to control the position here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No joy there for Mashinata, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Higgedy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mashinata sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mashinata slips under a jab from Higgedy.
Higgedy scoring well with a low kick there.
Mashinata is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mashinata looks gassed!
Mashinata avoids the body shot from Higgedy.
Higgedy closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mashinata tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Higgedy swivels and escapes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mashinata takes an elbow to the temple.
A right handed body shot lands from Higgedy.

Higgedy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mashinata slips a jab and a cross from Higgedy.
Mashinata fails to land with a series of punches.
Mashinata changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Higgedy tries to avoid it but Mashinata manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Higgedy to the ground. Higgedy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pete Higgedy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stuno Mashinata.
Higgedy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Higgedy misses with the combination.
Mashinata lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Higgedy darts in and clinches Mashinata up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Higgedy is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Higgedy gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Higgedy scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Higgedy controlling the pace.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Higgedy lands a nice short elbow.
Mashinata is trying to maintain the position but Higgedy is very close to passing his half guard.

Higgedy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mashinata is just riding it out for now. Higgedy eventually gives up the hold.
Higgedy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mashinata with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Higgedy content to control rather than advance.
Mashinata wants to get back to full guard.
Higgedy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Higgedy lands a nice short elbow.
Higgedy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mashinata on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mashinata is looking to control Higgedy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mashinata avoid being mounted?

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Higgedy avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Higgedy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Higgedy throws a series of punches but Mashinata avoids them all with ease.
Mashinata avoids the head kick by Higgedy.
Mashinata throws a wild body kick that Higgedy sees coming a mile off.
Mashinata throws a right and a left that Higgedy avoids nicely.
Higgedy shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Higgedy rushes Mashinata and presses him up against the cage.
Higgedy tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Mashinata goes for a takedown attempt but Higgedy pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Higgedy stalks Mashinata and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mashinata's face. Mashinata staggers backwards, shaken.

Mashinata decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Higgedy is refusing to be controlled, as Mashinata sits in half guard.
Mashinata tries to pass the half guard into mount. Higgedy knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mashinata is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mashinata seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Higgedy is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
