PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Tremblay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wade Willson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Willson has chosen Sugar Hill Gang - Apache as his entrance music. Wade Willson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elijah Tremblay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wade Willson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tremblay wants to clinch.
Tremblay tries to clinch up but Willson circles away and keeps his distance.

Willson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tremblay sprawls well initially but Willson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tremblay pushes Willson off looking to stand but Willson dives back in and keeps control.
Tremblay trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Willson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Willson is looking to stall here but Tremblay recovers full guard.
Willson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Willson is looking to work some ground and pound but Tremblay has wrist control.
Willson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tremblay swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tremblay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Willson moves into the clinch.
Tremblay prevents a takedown attempt there.
Willson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tremblay gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Tremblay obliges.
Willson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Elijah Tremblay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wade Willson.
Willson is trying to drag Tremblay to the mat but Tremblay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Willson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tremblay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Willson looks gassed!

Tremblay gets underhooks to prevent Willson's takedown attempt.
Tremblay changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Willson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Tremblay wants to clinch

and Willson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Tremblay has clasped his hands together around Willson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tremblay wants to stand but Willson has his arm trapped.
Willson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tremblay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Willson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tremblay wants to stand but Willson has his arm trapped.
Willson is looking to regain half guard here but Tremblay keeps moving and retains side control.
Willson misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tremblay closes the distance looking to clinch

so Willson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Tremblay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Willson is controlling him.
Willson trying to move into half guard but instead Tremblay has managed to sweep!
Willson wants to sweep but no luck.
Willson trying to keep a closed guard but Tremblay is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wade Willson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tremblay tries to clinch but Willson moves out of range.
Elijah Tremblay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tremblay wants to clinch up but Willson keeps it at a distance.

The fight stays on the outside here - Tremblay looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tremblay leaves Willson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Willson is breathing heavily.

and Willson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tremblay won't be happy with that.
Willson throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Tremblay works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Willson stops Tremblay from getting back to his feet.

Willson wants to advance to full mount but Tremblay doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Willson circles away from the clinch attempt

and Willson counters by clinching up.

Willson stops a takedown attempt from Tremblay.
Tremblay is trying to maintain a safe position but Willson gets an underhook and turns Tremblay into the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tremblay takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Tremblay crunches a lovely knee into Willson's ribcage.
Tremblay misses with an elbow over the top.

Tremblay manages to pull guard.
Willson trying to control but Tremblay is working from the bottom.
Willson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tremblay is keeping the position for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Willson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tremblay dives on top into guard.
Tremblay won't allow Willson to sweep him here.
Willson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Willson is trying to keep Tremblay in close.
Tremblay has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Willson wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wade Willson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Willson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Tremblay wants to get back to his feet but Willson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Tremblay pushes Willson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Willson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tremblay won't be happy with that.

Tremblay regains half guard, as Willson was trying to land strikes.
Willson wants to control but Tremblay is keeping him busy.

Willson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tremblay doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Willson.
Willson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tremblay's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tremblay is trying to stand back up but Willson is controlling him
Willson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Tremblay to regain full guard.

Willson swats away the attempt to clinch by Tremblay.

and Willson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tremblay won't be happy with that.

Willson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Wade Willson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Willson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
