Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Mikel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monte Negro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Monte Negro enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Mikel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Monte Negro!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikel scores with a three punch combo!
Mikel tries for a takedown but Negro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Mikel.
Mikel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Negro's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mikel stands up from Negro's guard - Mikel perhaps looking for a knockout.
Negro misses with a takedown attempt
and Mikel counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Mikel with a lazy takedown attempt
and Negro counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mikel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mikel is trying to stand.
Negro is trying to work for a kimura but Mikel is defending well.
Negro looks gassed!

Mikel is trying to stand up here but Negro is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Negro looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Mikel wants to get back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mikel doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Negro counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Mikel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mikel is looking to escape.
Mikel tries to roll over but Negro keeps him under control.
Negro trying to pass the guard but Mikel defending well.
Negro seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mikel looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Mikel pushes Negro off looking to stand but Negro dives back in and keeps control.

Negro wants to control but Mikel is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Negro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mikel is keeping the position for now.
Mikel tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mikel is looking for a triangle but Negro pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mikel wants to get back to his feet but Negro passes into half guard.
Negro is working for a submission of some sort.
Negro is looking for a kimura but Mikel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Negro to get the leverage.

Mikel is trying to stand up here but Negro is controlling him well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Mikel is trying to stand back up but Negro is controlling him
Mikel has hold of Negro's hands but Negro slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Negro is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mikel works over Negro's head and body with a nice combination.
Negro is rocked!
Mikel shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Mikel slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Mikel lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Johnny Mikel!
