Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darth Vader!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vader sprawls well. Vader wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Curtis gets slowly back to his feet.

Curtis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vader manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Vader wants to stand and escape but Curtis is having none of it.
Curtis tries to free his leg and advance position but Vader is retaining full guard.
Vader looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Curtis prevents Vader from getting back to his feet.
Curtis throws and elbow that misses. Vader uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Curtis's guard. Nice move by Vader!
Curtis looking for a sweep. Not yet Curtis, not yet.

Curtis trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Curtis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vader keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Curtis is breathing heavily.
Curtis shoots for a takedown but Vader saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Curtis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vader gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Curtis prevents the takedown attempt.

Vader breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vader scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Vader fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Vader clinches with his opponent.
Curtis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vader walks away with a smile on his face. Curtis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Vader explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Vader instigates a clinch.

Vader manages to break the clinch.

Vader gets the takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vader decides to stand back up. Vader steps back and let's Curtis get back to his feet.
Both fighters circling a little - Vader finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Vader is looking to slow Curtis down with leg kicks.

Vader closes the distance and clinches.

Vader manages to break the clinch.

Vader moves into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vader scores with a hook to the body.
Curtis misses with a hook to the ribs.
Curtis tries to pull guard but Vader holds him up against the cage and eventually Curtis drops back down to his feet.

Vader escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Vader rushes Curtis and presses him up against the cage.
Vader has Curtis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Curtis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Curtis is working for takedown but Vader is calmly controlling the position for now.

Vader manages to break the clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Vader.
Curtis walks forward, straight into a front kick from Vader.

Vader has taken the fight to the clinch.

Vader breaks from the clinch.

Vader fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Curtis sprawls well initially but Vader persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Vader passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Curtis is squirming around, avoiding Vader's attempts to control the action.
Vader sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Curtis is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Vader has taken his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vader trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darth Vader dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Matt Curtis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Curtis takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Vader leaves Curtis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Curtis will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Vader tries for a takedown but Curtis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Vader closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Vader pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Vader lands with a nice body kick.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Curtis takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Vader. Curtis shrugs it off though.

Vader moves into the clinch successfully.

Vader's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vader lands with a slapping head kick.
Curtis with a lazy takedown attempt
and Vader counters with a body kick that stops Curtis in his tracks momentarily.

Vader throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Vader throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Vader shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

A head kick from Vader lands but Curtis takes it in his stride.

and Vader counters with a good low kick that Curtis was not able to check.

Vader is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Curtis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Vader escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Vader drives through and clinches with Curtis against the cage.
Vader is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Curtis is keeping busy.
Vader blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Vader throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Curtis takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vader lands with a kick to the temple. Curtis shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Curtis wants to clinch but Vader slips to the side
and Vader counters with a nice body kick.
Vader lands a head kick!
Curtis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vader pinned against the cage. Vader gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darth Vader showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Curtis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Vader scores with a spinning back kick!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vader throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Nice sprawl there from Curtis as Vader shoots in.

Vader has closed the distance and engaged Curtis in a clinch.

Vader breaks the clinch.
Vader closes the distance and lands a one-two.
A thudding body kick lands there by Vader!
Vader scores with a kick to the body.

Vader shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Curtis pinned against the cage. Curtis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vader has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Curtis crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vader - the referee stops the clock and Curtis gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vader. Curtis manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Vader pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vader throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matt Curtis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darth Vader.
Vader lands a head kick. Curtis smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Nice takedown defense from Curtis. No joy for Vader on that attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vader wants to lay and pray for a moment but Curtis keeps working.
Curtis tries to improve position but can't.
Matt Curtis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Darth Vader is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Vader throws a head kick that Curtis semi-blocks.

And that's the end of the fight!
Darth Vader comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vader has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
