Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Meadows!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Hossa!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hossa moves in looking to clinch but Meadows pushes him off.
Hossa fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Meadows with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hossa counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Meadows shoots in and bounces Hossa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Meadows throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hossa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hossa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Meadows has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Meadows lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meadows throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Meadows is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Meadows with a flurry of punches that miss.
Meadows distracts Hossa with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hossa looks gassed!
Meadows stands up over Hossa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Meadows content to stall in guard here.
Meadows content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Meadows postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Meadows throwing strikes from guard but Hossa blocks nicely.
Meadows scoring with punches to the head and body.
Meadows lands a couple of digs.
Meadows trying to control the position from guard on top but Hossa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meadows throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Meadows working some strikes from top position.
Meadows working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hossa has momentary wrist control but Meadows slips an elbow through the middle.

Hossa keeping moving, preventing Meadows from controlling successfully.
Hossa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Meadows!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meadows throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Hossa breaks from Meadows's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Meadows tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Meadows tries to hold on but Hossa postures up.
Meadows keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Meadows is working hard here to advance position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Meadows throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Meadows is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hossa has control of Meadows's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Meadows regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hossa throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hossa lands a big shot there that rocks Meadows but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hossa working away from the top, dropping strikes.


Meadows is rocked!

Hossa working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Meadows turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Hossa off and cradles Meadows's limp body as Hossa celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Andrew Hossa!
