Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between diet Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alice Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonson has chosen As I Lay Dying - This Is Who We Are as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, diet Pepper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alice Jonson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pepper gets underhooks to prevent Jonson's takedown attempt.
Pepper is trying to force a seperation but Jonson has the dominant position.

Jonson jumps guard and drags Pepper to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pepper trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jonson's guard.

Jonson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pepper defends well.
Jonson is pulling down on Pepper's head. It's preventing any offense from Pepper, at least for the moment.

Jonson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Jonson controlling Pepper's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jonson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jonson wants to sweep but no luck.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jonson controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pepper is one step ahead there.
Jonson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pepper!
Pepper is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Alice Jonson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pepper misses with a wild combination.
Pepper tries to bum rush Jonson with a series of wild strikes but Jonson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jonson clinches up with Pepper and pushes him back against the cage.

Jonson is working for takedown but Pepper is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alice Jonson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pepper pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jonson closes the distance and clinches.
Jonson has Pepper pressed against the cage, preventing Pepper from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pepper has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jonson wants a takedown.
Pepper is trying to break free.
Jonson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Pepper working hard to break the clinch.

Jonson decides to pull guard.
Jonson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jonson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Jonson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Jonson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pepper!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jonson working the ground and pound effectively.

Jonson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Jonson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Pepper's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Jonson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pepper is now in Jonson's guard. A big mistake from Jonson there, giving up the dominant position!
Jonson pulls Pepper in close to his closed guard and prevents Pepper from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Jonson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jonson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alice Jonson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Pepper fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Jonson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jonson is working for a submission of some sort.
Jonson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Pepper is in trouble now - Jonson has advanced to mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pepper is squirming around, avoiding Jonson's attempts to control the action.
Alice Jonson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
