The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stubbs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Batista circles away.

Stubbs throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Batista was covering up waiting for the punch and Stubbs finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Stubbs drops back, looking for a kneebar! Batista looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Batista looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Batista!
Stubbs tries to bench press Batista off him but Batista keeps the position.

Batista has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Stubbs looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Batista is fending him off so far but Stubbs persists. Nope, Batista circles away and we're back to standing.
Stubbs chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Batista can pounce on him.
Batista scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Batista tries to bum rush Stubbs with a series of wild strikes but Stubbs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Batista scores with a one two! Stubbs had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stubbs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Joao Batista has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodney Leonard Stubbs.
Stubbs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Batista sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Stubbs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Batista's waist but Batista gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stubbs off to one side.

Stubbs misses with a takedown attempt - Batista sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Batista lands with a nice body punch.
Batista swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Stubbs needs to keep his hands up - Batista had a free shot at his head there.
Batista looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Batista ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Stubbs looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Batista cracks Stubbs with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Batista lands a hook that stumbles Stubbs back into the cage. Batista follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Stubbs to the canvas! Batista pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Stubbs has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
