Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Kappes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Kappes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bryan Baker!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kappes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kappes doesn't manage to clinch there - Baker circles away.
Kappes fails to land the takedown.
Kappes throws a sloppy head kick and Baker moves out of range easily.

Baker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kappes is trying to maintain the position but Baker is very close to passing his half guard.
Baker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kappes keeps working.
Baker is thwarting Kappes's attempts to control the position.
Baker is trying to control the action in half guard but Kappes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kappes trying to hold on to Baker's head to control him but Baker postures up.

Baker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kappes is looking to slow Baker down with leg kicks.
Kappes doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Baker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Baker controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kappes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Baker trying to control but Kappes is working from the bottom.
Baker won't allow Kappes to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kappes wants to take a breather but Baker is having none of it.

Baker is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kappes defends well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Baker wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Kappes goes for a takedown attempt but Baker pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Baker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kappes wants to get back to full guard.
Baker wants to pass to mount but Kappes is defending the position.
Kappes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kappes pushes Baker off looking to stand but Baker dives back in and keeps control.

Baker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baker wants to pass to mount but Kappes is defending the position.
Kappes wants to control but Baker is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Baker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kappes, pushing him back against the cage.

Baker successfully pulls guard.

Kappes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Baker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kappes has managed to get both his arms back between Baker's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baker is looking for a triangle but Kappes pushes his legs off easily.

Baker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kappes is squirming around, avoiding Baker's attempts to control the action.

Baker is working for a guillotine from mount but Kappes frees his head quite easily.

Kappes stops Baker from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Baker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Baker moves nicely into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Baker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Baker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kappes, who protects the arm well.

Baker takes a little break here. Kappes wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Kappes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Baker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Baker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kappes is just riding it out for now. Baker eventually gives up the hold.
Baker is trying to control. Kappes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Baker is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Baker is going olschool here, as he tries to force Kappes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kappes shrugs it off.

Bryan Baker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Baker winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
