The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ridlle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Marreta was covering up waiting for the punch and Ridlle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ridlle stands and throws Marreta's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marreta can't do much from the bottom here.
Ridlle works to advance to full mount. Marreta defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ridlle goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Marreta turns into him and now he's in Ridlle's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Marreta tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ridlle paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ridlle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Marreta did well to prevent Ridlle getting side control.

Ridlle jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Marreta manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Marreta is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ridlle has just dragged him back down to the mat.
You can see the frustration on Marreta's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Marreta shoots in looking for a takedown. Ridlle tries to sprawl out of it but Marreta keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ridlle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ridlle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Marreta wants to clinch up but Ridlle keeps it at a distance.
Marreta gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ridlle counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Marreta's guard now.

Ridlle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ridlle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ridlle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marreta swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ridlle decides to stand up, so the ref orders Marreta to his feet.
Ridlle doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Marreta counters with a stiff right hand.

and Marreta counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ridlle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marreta doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marreta manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
