PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Voorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Ramano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Voorhees comes to the cage accompanied by Friday The 13th Theme. Ramano has chosen Not Ready to Go as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rico Ramano!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voorhees scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Voorhees changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ramano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ramano is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Voorhees off and has taken his back!
Ramano controlling well, preventing Voorhees from escaping the position.

Ramano has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Voorhees has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Voorhees staying busy and making it hard for Ramano to control.
Ramano has good solid back control here.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Ramano's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Voorhees is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ramano is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Voorhees just trying to survive but Ramano is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ramano misses with a punch to the head.
Voorhees looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Voorhees can't escape the position.
Ramano missing with strikes from the back.
Ramano throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Ramano doesn't have the hooks in and Voorhees manages to turn into his guard.
Voorhees knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ramano on the ground.
Ramano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Voorhees swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Voorhees throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ramano.

Voorhees looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Voorhees prevents Ramano from improving his position.

Ramano is trying to control but can't.
Ramano is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ramano tries to kick Voorhees off but Voorhees keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Voorhees tries to clinch but Ramano is having none of it.
Ramano shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Voorhees as he avoids it easily.
Voorhees is looking to clinch.
Voorhees avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Voorhees fails with an attempt to clinch.
Voorhees throws a nice looking combination but Ramano bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ramano moves into the clinch.
Ramano lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Voorhees or not.
Ramano is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Voorhees gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Ramano tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ramano tries to land knees in the clinch but Voorhees avoids the damage to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Ramano counters by moving into the clinch.
Voorhees blocking some punches.
Ramano is trying to stall.
Voorhees has had enough of the clinch but Ramano keeps him there for the moment.
Ramano misses with a knee to the head.
Ramano misses with a knee strike.
Ramano wants a takedown but no success here.
Ramano can't break the clinch.
Ramano misses with a knee to the head.
Ramano is trying to break free.
Voorhees tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ramano is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Voorhees dodges an elbow strike from Ramano.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramano throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Voorhees blocks it with crossed arms.

Ramano misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Voorhees.
Ramano is breathing heavily.
Ramano wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Voorhees has him pressed against the cage.
Voorhees blocks the elbow strike.
Ramano can't break the clinch.

Voorhees manages to break the clinch.
Ramano is looking to clinch.
Voorhees throws a left and a right that both miss

and Ramano counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Voorhees down! Ramano is looking to finish but Voorhees is intelligently defending himself.


Voorhees is rocked!
Voorhees is trying to control the position but Ramano postures up.
Oh Voorhees is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ramano throwing strikes from guard but Voorhees blocks nicely.
Ramano is looking to work some ground and pound but Voorhees has wrist control.
Ramano won't allow Voorhees to get back to his feet.
Voorhees seems to have got his legs back now.
Ramano postures up.

Voorhees manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Voorhees throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ramano counters with a straight right hand.
Ramano throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ramano tries a head kick but it misses.

A combination from Voorhees does no damage.
Voorhees avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ramano fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ramano jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Voorhees throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ramano counters with a hugh head kick that removes Voorhees from consiousness! A brutal head kick knockout!
