The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Souza shoots in and bounces Madeira off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Souza got a little sloppy there for a moment and Madeira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Souza has managed to get both his arms back between Madeira's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Madeira has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Souza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Let's hope that Souza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Madeira is looking to sinch up a triangle. Souza throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Madeira's body to avoid the submission. Madeira has instead reached around Souza's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Madeira arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
