Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and frank mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kennedy might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to MegaDeth - Symphony of Destruction. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, frank mir!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kennedy drives through with a takedown into guard.
mir has Kennedy pulled in close to control his posture.
Kennedy stands and throws mir's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kennedy trying to control the position but mir is working away.
Kennedy tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
mir tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
mir tries to hold on but Kennedy pushes him away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kennedy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as mir is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

mir lands a high kick to the side of Kennedy's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! mir dives into guard, looking to finish.


It looks like James Kennedy has been cut.
Kennedy has mir pulled in close to control his posture.
Kennedy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
mir is working to get back to half guard.
mir is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kennedy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Kennedy throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kennedy stalling in the clinch but mir improves position.
Kennedy is trying to drag mir to the mat but mir just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Kennedy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
mir blocks a punch to the side of the head.
mir tries to break free but Kennedy pushes him back against the cage.
mir is looking to break free of the clinch but Kennedy has double underhooks.

mir stuffs the takedown attempt from Kennedy. Kennedy gets slowly back to his feet.
mir looks to land a left hand but Kennedy moved out of range nicely.

and Kennedy counters with a nice uppercut.

Kennedy throws a low kick but mir avoids it.
Kennedy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kennedy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but mir moves away.
mir throws a leg kick but Kennedy sees it coming and moves out of range.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Some bone on bone action there as mir checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Kennedy closes the distance and clinches up with mir, looking for a takedown. Kennedy pushes mir against the cage but mir circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

mir will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kennedy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps mir's head backwards.
Kennedy shoots for a double leg takedown but mir sprawls well. He's pushed Kennedy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kennedy loads up on a big right hand but mir slips the punch.

Kennedy lands with a hook. mir tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kennedy clobbers mir with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Kennedy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for mir!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kennedy lands a big shot there that rocks mir but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Kennedy is landing with some decent strikes but mir is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Poor strikes thrown by Kennedy there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Kennedy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but mir is surviving well by controlling Kennedy's body position as best he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kennedy postures up in mir's guard and throws a big left but mir blocks it.

Kennedy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kennedy thows a huge punch but mir dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

James Kennedy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kennedy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
