The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maxwell gets caught flat footed, as Hudson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hudson tries to free his leg and advance position but Maxwell is retaining full guard.

Hudson gets to his feet - Maxwell follows without any prompting.
Hudson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maxwell as he jumps to the side.
Gordon Maxwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maxwell stuffs the takedown attempt from Hudson. Hudson gets slowly back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hudson connects with a knee to the head.
Maxwell looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Hudson manages to break the clinch.

Hudson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Maxwell if he has to take too many more of those.
Maxwell takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Hudson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maxwell avoids it really well and circles away.
Gordon Maxwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saul Hudson.

Hudson drives through and clinches with Maxwell against the cage.

Hudson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maxwell circles away.

Hudson misses with a takedown attempt - Maxwell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hudson is looking to clinch.
Hudson shoots in for a takedown but Maxwell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A left lands for Maxwell.
Hudson fails with a takedown attempt.
Hudson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maxwell tries to avoid it but Hudson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maxwell to the ground. Maxwell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Maxwell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Maxwell.

The fighters circle momentarily. Maxwell darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hudson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hudson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Maxwell digs a good body shot into Hudson's ribs.
Maxwell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Hudson moves into range and clinches up with Maxwell.
Maxwell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hudson.
Maxwell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Maxwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hudson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hudson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Maxwell!
Maxwell cracks Hudson with an open hand slap.
Maxwell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hudson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Maxwell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Maxwell is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Hudson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hudson moves in looking to clinch but Maxwell pushes him off.
Hudson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maxwell moves away.

Hudson pulls guard effortlessly.

Hudson has his feet on Maxwell's thighs here. He's pushed Maxwell off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Maxwell screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
