The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Van Der Poel did well to prevent Lynch getting side control.
Lynch is looking for a kimura but Van Der Poel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lynch to get the leverage.
Van Der Poel is refusing to be controlled, as Lynch sits in half guard.
Van Der Poel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lynch is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Van Der Poel sees it coming and defends easily.

Lynch does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Lynch counters with a nice low kick that buckles Van Der Poel's knee momentarily.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Lynch. Van Der Poel shrugs it off though.

Good leg kick by Lynch there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Van Der Poel fails to land with a series of punches.
Lynch misses with a head kick.
Van Der Poel walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lynch checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Van Der Poel turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Lynch off and cradles Van Der Poel's limp body as Lynch celebrates with his corner.
