PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Pennet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Querido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pedro Querido struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Querido!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pennet shoots in for a takedown but Querido shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pennet shoots in but no luck this time.
Pennet tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Querido leaves Pennet with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Pennet. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Querido shoots and misses
and Pennet counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Pennet tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Querido paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pennet changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Querido looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Querido is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pennet asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Pennet is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Querido's shoulder. That is not cool.

Pennet has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Querido defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pennet.
Pennet looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Querido is fending him off so far but Pennet persists. Nope, Querido circles away and we're back to standing.

Querido closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

BJ Pennet overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pennet seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Querido does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Pennet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Pennet fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Querido, pushing him back against the cage.

The is referee keeping an eye on Pennet - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Querido tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pennet smiles and moves away.

and Querido counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pennet's guard now.
Pennet lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Querido!
Pennet lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pennet cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
