The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
gav pulls out of a head kick attempt.
gav tries a head kick but it misses.
A head kick misses from gav.
gav goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
gav will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
gav throws a right hand that borges ducks under and follows up with a left that borges also avoids with ease.
Yakov gav seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
gav goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
gav swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
borges avoids the head kick by gav.

borges shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

borges is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so gav is just riding it out for now. borges eventually gives up the hold.
borges looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

borges content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
gav is looking to escape.

borges is working for a kimura but gav is defending it quite comfortably.
borges wants to pass the guard but gav is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

borges seems to be working for a kimura but gav defends the submission attempt.
borges prevents gav from standing back up.
borges tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
gav throws a head kick but borges moves out of range.
gav is breathing heavily.

It looks like Yakov gav has been cut.

borges shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches gav napping and manages to drive through into side control!
borges tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
borges tries to score with some ground and pound. gav controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
borges is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
borges wants to lay and pray for a moment but gav keeps working.

borges is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. gav knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
borges trying to control the action but gav is working from the bottom.

borges is working to tighten is grip on gav's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. gav has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but borges is really squeezing tight and eventually gav passes out! borges breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
