The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Frend connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A jab from Frend does it's job there.
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Frend circles away quickly and effectively.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Silva has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Frend breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Frend tests Silva's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Frend moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Wandey Silva has been cut.

Frend throws a leg kick but Silva sees it coming and moves out of range.
Silva tries to clinch there but Frend circles away.
Frend is looking to score with low kicks.
Silva connects with a high kick.

Silva throws a front kick aimed at Frend's knee but Frend avoids it well.
Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.

Silva moves into range and clinches up with Frend.
Frend has Silva pressed against the cage, preventing Silva from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Silva wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Frend prevents Silva from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Silva's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Silva tries to circle away but Frend has him pinned against the cage.

Frend pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Silva takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Frend connects with a crisp jab.
Wandey Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Frend lands a big shot that drops Silva! Can he finish him?

Silva is rocked!
Frend pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Oh Silva is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Frend content to control rather than advance.
Silva seems to have got his legs back now.

Frend missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Frend slows the pace down in half guard.
Silva tries to kick Frend off but Frend keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Frend keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Frend tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Frend stands up out of the half guard.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Silva on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Frend showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Silva.

Frend is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Silva had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
