Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Anselmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Anselmo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Carter!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anselmo doesn't manage to clinch there - Carter circles away.
Anselmo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carter swivels and escapes.
Anselmo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Anselmo lands a high kick to the side of Carter's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Anselmo dives into guard, looking to finish.
It looks like Benjamin Carter has been cut.
Carter looks gassed!
Carter trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Anselmo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carter is keeping the position for now.
Anselmo is looking to stand up but Carter won't let him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anselmo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Carter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anselmo's guard.

Carter postures up and lands a big shot to Anselmo's brow.
Carter is in close to Anselmo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Anselmo lands an upkick as Carter stands over him.
Anselmo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carter cracks Anselmo with a solid left hand.
Anselmo working for a triangle but Carter defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Anselmo can't keep his opponent in guard - Carter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Carter is nestled in close to Anselmo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Anselmo wants to improve his position but Carter is controlling well.

Carter working over Anselmo with some ground and pound. Anselmo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter drops an elbow to the side of Anselmo's head.
Anselmo manages to get to full guard.
Anselmo controls Carter momentarily but Carter frees himself.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Anselmo is looking to stand up but Carter isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anselmo is on top in guard.
Carter working for a triangle but Anselmo defends it easily.
Anselmo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.

Anselmo stands up over Carter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Carter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anselmo trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom.
Anselmo arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Carter's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Phil Anselmo!
