PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mad dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murray kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Smack My Bitch Up. John Mad dog will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
John Mad dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mad dog defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Murray.

Murray closes the distance and clinches.
Mad dog avoids a wild elbow strike from Murray.

Murray wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Mad dog goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Murray rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mad dog's guard! Nice work there by Murray!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murray trying to control the position from guard on top but Mad dog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mad dog throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Murray cracks Mad dog with a solid left hand.
Murray tries to stand but Mad dog is controlling from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mad dog had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Murray is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mad dog Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Murray's back instead.

Murray is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mad dog is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd cheers as Murray lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mad dog doesn't seem phased though.

Mad dog seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That was a close round but I would say that Lee Murray will probably get the nod.

Murray lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mad dog circles away quickly and effectively.
Mad dog cracks Murray with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Murray counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mad dog's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
