PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Dweller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rex has chosen Sweet Disposition as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Troy Rex has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Dweller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Troy Rex!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dweller doesn't manage to clinch there - Rex circles away.
Rex tries to close the distance and clinch but Dweller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rex is defended easily by Dweller.
Jab, jab by Rex - just one landing.
Dweller closes the distance looking to clinch

and Rex counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rex must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rex can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dweller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rex is squirming around, avoiding Dweller's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Troy Rex dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Rex closes the distance and clinches.
Rex jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dweller walks away with a smile on his face. Rex gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mike Dweller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice sprawl there from Dweller as Rex shoots in.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rex is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dweller is aware though and is defending well.
Dweller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dweller lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Rex.
Rex goes for a takedown attempt but Dweller pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rex throws a leg kick which misses Dweller's front leg but catches the back leg as Dweller tries to avoid it.

and Rex counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dweller!

Rex goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dweller turns into him and now he's in Rex's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rex can do anything to dispel that myth.

A close second round but Troy Rex will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Rex drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dweller dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rex throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dweller uses it to pass to side control.

Rex looks to move to half guard but instead Dweller has passed into mount! Damn!
Rex tries to hold on but Dweller pushes him away.
Rex is desperately trying to improve his position but Dweller has a good base and remains in mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dweller can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rex is looking to escape.
Rex is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Rex is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rex wants to hold on but Dweller pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rex is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dweller content just to control the position here.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Troy Rex.
I've got Rex winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
